I'm currently in Las Vegas because of RailsConf, a software development convention. The convention ended this afternoon, but I'm staying on until tomorrow evening.

This evening, I went out and took some photos of Nevada's Valley of Fire. It was pretty cool. But, tomorrow I have until about 5:00 to have fun.

Some ideas that I've had:

  • Go back out to the Valley of Fire tomorrow at dawn, since I didn't get all that much time out there this evening.

  • Head down to Hoover Dam

  • Visit Lake Mead

  • Kick back and relax at the pool

  • Do some shopping

  • Visit the spa in the hotel

What do you think? What other options would you suggest?

This should be a poll, but I haven't paid for my account in a while, so if ya'll want to have a say, you'll have to leave comments.

PS: The raw photos from today will be here once my computer gets around to finishing resizing them and starts uploading them instead.

Just so you know

Lake Mead is tragically mis-named.

Much love,

And universal remote controls don't let you control the universe remotely!

The world is a sad, cold, unfair place.

If you go to Hoover Dam do the hard-hat tour (if they're still offering it - you might want to call and check). That tour is cool. If they're not offering it, I would go back to Vally of Fire since that's way more interesting that Hoover Dam.

The Star Trex exhibit is really cool too! I think it is at the Hilton but I might be wrong. In any event, have a good time!

The ST exhibit is gone! It was so totally incredible, and I didn't get to see everything I'd wanted. I'd planned to go back again, but they got rid of it last autumn :(

Ok, whoops, I might be mistaken. I just remembered I'd heard rumors that it was reopening. Here's what I found.

Apparently it's reopening TODAY but won't be fully ready until 2010.
